| CHIKV E1
Chikungunya is an infection caused by the chikungunya virus (CHIKV).The disease was first identified in 1952 in Tanzania and named based on the Kimakonde words for "to become contorted".Chikungunya has become a global health concern due to its rapid geographic expansion, recurrent outbreaks, the lack of effective antiviral treatments, and potential to cause high morbidity.Chikungunya virus is closely related to O'nyong'nyong virus (ONNV), which shares similar genetic and clinical characteristics.Symptoms include fever and joint pain. These typically occur two to twelve days after exposure.Other symptoms may include headache, muscle pain, joint swelling, and a rash.Symptoms usually improve within a week; however, occasionally the joint pain may last for months or years. The risk of death is around 1 in 1,000.The very young, old, and those with other health problems are at risk of more severe disease.| Typical data
As the OD values of the standard curve may vary according to the conditions of the actual assay performance (e.g. operator, pipetting technique, wash technique or temperature effects), the operator should establish a standard curve for each test. Typical standard curve and data are provided below for reference only.| Concentration (ng/mL) | 2000 | 1000 | 500 | 250 | 125 | 62.5 | 31.25 | 0 |
| OD | 0.27 | 0.4 | 0.57 | 0.79 | 1.02 | 1.32 | 1.68 | 1.95 |
| Repeatability
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay):CV% < 10%; Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays):CV% < 10%| Recovery
The recovery of CHIKV E1 spiked at three different levels in samples throughout the range of the assay was evaluated in various matrices.| Sample Type | Range(%) | Average Recovery(%) |
| Serum(n=8) | 82-107 | 100 |
| Plasma(n=8) | 82-107 | 100 |
| Cell Culture Supernates(n=8) | 97-108 | 105 |
| Linearity
Samples were spiked with high concentrations of CHIKV E1 and diluted with Universal Diluent to produce samples with values within the range of the assay.| Serum(n=4) | Plasma(n=4) | Cell Culture Supernates(n=4) | ||
| 1 : 2 | Range (%) | 89-108 | 82-110 | 84-114 |
| Average (%) | 96 | 95 | 99 | |
